About Us

Turnout Nation equips people who care deeply about voting - people we call Voting Captains - with the tools and info they need to ultimately get more Americans to the polls. We do that through friend-to-friend mobilization, which leverages the power of personal relationships.

Turnout Nation is a fiscally-sponsored project of The Social Good Fund, a 501(c)3 organization. We're not-for-profit and nonpartisan. We receive additional funding from the Bernard & Audre Rapoport Foundation. We legally cannot accept partisan or campaign funds and we will never share or sell user data.

THE PROBLEM

The US has very low turnout rates

The US has a turnout problem. In 2016, only 55% of eligible voters turned up to vote - the lowest number in 20 years. That’s almost half our country unheard, and therefore unrepresented. When broad swaths of the public aren’t voting, it means our government isn’t truly “by the people, for the people.”

Our Vision

Our goal is to bring power to the people. Voting is powerful if enough of us do it. It is difficult and often hasn’t resulted in meaningful or timely change. Having the help and encouragement of a trusted friend or family member can make all the difference. By being a part of this support network, you can inspire others to help people in their communities to make their voices heard, 10 votes at a time.

THE SOLUTION

Friend-to-friend Mobilization

Turnout Nation was founded to help address our nation’s turnout problem and help create a more robust, vibrant democracy. We believe there’s immense power in personal relationships, and are leveraging those connections to get more people to the polls. To that end, we work to empower, inform, and equip our volunteers - called Voting Captains - with what they need to get their friends, family, neighbors, and coworkers to vote.
